Collision - (noun) an instance of one moving object or person striking violently against each other.

It all began with a collision. Not a violent one, though. It was more like a domino falling on top of another, setting off a trail of events that were absolutely inevitable, allowing gravity to work its magic and make the fall. But before the domino trail showed effect, however, a push down on hard New York pavement and a cup of coffee to the head had to happen to Aspen Lane. With that, the bad luck just kept showing up...together with a weird boy who had the same streak of unfortunate events plaguing him.

This is where Aspen Andrews comes into the picture. He never did a bad thing in his life (at least, that's what he thinks), yet the moment he accidentally shoved an innocent girl over the sidewalk, life just went downhill. This mystery girl, who coincidentally was also named Aspen (their moms just had to take the same page out of the baby book, hadn't they?), always found a way to barge into his life and leave her mark as if taking revenge for that one snowy day when their worlds became inexplicably interlaced.

A day not going by without them running into each other one way or another, chance proves that it might have never been a case of bad luck in the long run. Whoever said cups of coffee, melted snowmen, crying cashiers, missed interviews, and trips to the hospital were a terrible thing? Besides, it's Christmas season in New York. Miracles are bound to happen...right?

Whoever it was that said that money can't buy you happiness had hit the nail smack dab on its head. Ellis Carmichael had made his millions before the age of twenty. His patented internet site, hotexpectations.com was almost an overnight success. It was the main go to social site for gay men to meet and mingle; a very exclusive member's only website where the gay and bi-curious Sugar Daddies discreetly used to hook up with the Sugar Babies of their dreams. Now, a little over ten years later with thousands of matches made, making Ellis one of the wealthiest bachelors out there. He is now 34 years old, still single, and feeling very much alone at the top of his world. Ellis' mood took a nosedive with the realization that the holidays fast approaching and with it came all the festivities that just seemed to rub salt deeper into the gaping wound of his lonely heart. Especially Christmas, a day that only served to remind him of just how alone he was and he vowed to skip the tortuous celebrations this year altogether. All those happy people putting themselves in debt buying gifts, all the music and decorations, and especially all the happy couples and loving families on every corner you turn. That was Ellis' plan until one frigid evening after leaving his office; his driver and car nearly plowed over a little vagrant with stunning green eyes trying to cross the busy city street. Ellis' heart may be a little jaded but he was human, and he stopped to make sure that the boy who was literally swimming in his much larger threadbare jacket was uninjured. The little beauty was protectively clutching a little collection pot for the homeless. And something inside of Ellis had to make sure the young man was alright. Little did Ellis realize that he has just run into his Christmas Miracle...There will be no Bah Humbug for him or his little green eyed elf this year.

Aspen Secondary Academy: it's the dream of every academically-inclined teenager in Colorado. One of the most prestigious high schools in the nation. Nearly impossible to get into. And students aren't just trying to get in - they're vying for scholarships. The prize everyone wants a piece of - the President's Circle Academic Scholarship - grants anyone scoring in the top 1% of private school entrance exams in the United States a full ride through ASA. The odds of earning the scholarship are so improbable it's barely worth contemplating. But for some, it's more than a distant dream. That's the case for Sydney: bright, vivacious, bubbly, artistic, outgoing. Born without the use of her legs, but determined not to let that define her. And for Vivian: intense, a perfectionist, sharp, calm, prepared for anything. Of all the people at ASA, she seems, more than everyone, to have everything together - but that couldn't be further from the truth. Along with their classmates, ASA's 2020 President's Circle Scholarship recipients are about to take on freshman year the only way they know how: in an unforgettable fashion. NOTE: This story is a loosely-autobiographical account of my own high school experience. Many, many characters and events are based off of my experiences and it's packed with inside jokes and allusions, so this will probably make far more sense if you go to my school, but I hope you like it even if you don't.
