And to keep the news of her condition a secret- lest it be known and the family honor be ruined. Contessina and her father hatch a plan to pull it off. The doctors give her betrothed a fake but secret dianosis of being an horse riding accident and that she is now barren in order for herself to be released from the betrothal, which works. And the same lie about the horse riding accident is enough to ward off suspicion as to why she is taking medication to mask the symptoms of her real fatal illness to the Salgrias. But upon meeting her new groom- Contessina realizes that he is her love match and everything she never knew she always wanted and needed.
