Every step pounded in my ears, as I ran. Each step caused my heart to beat faster, harder. I knew they were gaining on me, yet my feet felt like lead, what had they done to me.
My chest burned as I screamed. Fire coursed through my veins causing me to stumble, and lose my footing. I came crashing down against the hard rocks, my hand twisting beneath me. I heard the sickening crunch as it broke, but numbness was soon flooding over my body. I’d barely escaped them; monsters in man’s body. Yet sadly now I would soon become one of them. My heart ached as it struggled to beat. I knew it would soon stop, but the fact that I knew didn’t seem to matter.
