Seven years after Galbatorix has fallen, Alagaesia is in a state of peace.

She plans her escape every night but has no idea where to go or who to trust. Her only sure plan of action is to free her mother, who has disappeared along with the other women captured the night of the attack. But first she has to escape her captors.
