EXCERPT FROM THE STORY
‘NO! I FORBID IT, ARIEL!’ It was Draco’s voice. Hermione pressed her ear to the door, listening. ‘ARIEL, NO!’ he hissed. ‘Do you realise what that would do to my reputation? I am a proud pure-blood-if they knew I had a Squib sister-if Potter ever found out-‘
Hermione’s foot slipped on the polished linen outside the classroom door, making a loud, high-pitched squeak. She cringed. Draco nervously stuck his face out of the classroom door and blanched. ‘G-g-Granger! What are you doing here?’
Draco Malfoy is known for his pride at his own pure-blood ancestry and at his Slytherin reputation. He doesn’t know that all that is about to change.
All his life, unbeknownst to his dad, Draco and his mum Narcissa have hidden Narcissa’s daughter, Ariel, who is a Squib, away from the world. Ariel is the same age as Draco, but possesses no magical powers whatsoever; Narcissa, knowing that Lucius would disown Ariel if he knew about her, hid her away from him. This year, in 3rd year, Draco has had to sneak Ariel to school with him. Ariel, meanwhile, is fed up of constantly being isolated from the world, and attempts to escape Draco’s watchful clutches. Will Draco set his priorities straight? Will reputation come before family? Will Harry Potter, the main person Draco has concealed his shameful secret from his whole life, find out? Will Draco ever find someone to confide in? Find out inside.
