Once a kit is born, they are fitted with a rock mask with 2 eye holes. The mask is carved by the mother, father or whatever caretaker they have. The mask is dipped into a pond which they believe to be holy. Once a kit becomes an apprentice, they get a paw pad marking on top of the mask. Once they become a warrior, claws are carved on top of the paws. If it's a medicine cat, a lead instead will be carved. If it's a leader, a star is added, and for deputy, half a star is added. For each apprentice they have, a slash mark is added beside the paw print. Once they retire to the elders den, the marking are removed all except a faded paw print. The masks grow with the cat as it grows. The colour of the markings depend on the mothers choice.All Rights Reserved
