Shortly after her 18th birthday, Aradia is expected to set her eyes on a potential husband. She parades from one social gathering to the next, her parents completely intent on matching her off within the next two years. But Aradia has a different plan. She adores dancing, but can find no other place to satisfy her need to move other than on the ballroom floors. Taking after her rather beloved female icon Queen Elizabeth of Great Britain, Aradia plans to use diplomacy and deceit to get what she wants, stringing along as many 'potential suitors' as necessary. But a certain machinist Leonard Fray gets in the way. After too many coincidental encounters, the public becomes thoroughly convinced that the two are a perfect match. He can hardly spend any more thought on the matter than a passing glance, instead encroached in his side business as a clock-maker.
