The Traders

When her friend is transformed by a mysterious encounter in what appears to be a dilapidated thrift shop, Nicola Roth is thrust into a world where the mute speak and the doubtful become activists, a world where human nature itself becomes clay in the hands of the traders.

Very few are aware of the existence of an underground network of merchants known only as the Traders. They deal not in material goods, but memories, emotion, and inherent traits. Their clients are the world's cesspool of wretched, unwanted, and lost. By joining their ranks as an apprentice, Nicola believes she is fulfilling a wild fantasy. But as her involvement with the Traders exposes a political underbelly and a decades-old hatred, an unexpected threat forces her to call into question all she knows about humanity and the consequences of meddling in what is sacred.
