Imagine what it would be like to have one of your senses taken away. You don't want to think about it, right? Although this isn't the case for Alexa Betancourt, it's very similar.

Alexa had a horrible experience when she was twelve, leaving her mute. She's never able to speak, and to remind her of this she has a hideous scar on her neck that she constantely tries to hide.

She went to a special needs school for four years, but decided she wanted to live as normal a life as possible, so she enrolled in a public school. People don't pay much attention to the quiet new girl at first, but after a while people learn of why she's always silent.

Alexa makes new friends, and becomes really close with a boy named Daniel, who seems to understand her completely. He's just like her really, except with a voice. He has a disability of his own, and when Alexa finds out they grow incredibly closer... Especially when Daniel's parents start to get involved in whatever they have...
