"Do you think it's possible to get a second chance someplace where everyone knows who you are and your story?" she asked him.
"Honestly, I don't know but I guess we just gotta make the best of what God gives us," he said looking at her as she stared off into the distance.
"Thats the thing though, if there really is a God, how could he let all this happen to me? It's just hard to believe that all this shit could happen to me and he would just let it," She sighed looking back at him.
"We don't always understand why God does what he does, but He knows what He's doing. We just have to trust Him," He said reaching out and taking her hand in his.
"I hope you know what your saying," she whispered. "I never thanked you by the way."
"For what?" he asked.
"For everything. The horse, sticking up for me that day, for being my friend though all this."
"No thanks necessary, I'm glad I could be there for you."
"I've really needed this, all of this. It feels good to get away. It's really nice just hanging out with you." She leaned against him shutting her eyes and soon enough she had fallen asleep. He smiled down at the sleeping girl on his lap. He wished that he could tell her how he really felt about her, but she didn't need that right now. All she needed was a friend and for now he would be just that, hoping that one day she could feel the same way about him. Until then he would do anything for her because he knew that he loved her, even if she was too broken to love him back.
