Will Knighton is Lady Jane Grey's musician. On the eve of her death she asks him to deliver a letter in the form of a song to her cousin Elizabeth. The song is delivered but Elizabeth gives no reply. Then Jane is beheaded on the orders of Queen Mary and Will is summoned to serve the Queen at court.
