Averie's life has never been easy, but lately nothing seems to be going right. Her family has fallen apart and she has no one to turn to. She no longer lives at home, for although her mother has found it in her heart to forgive, Averie feels her father has committed an unforgivable crime. She is, without a doubt, completely and utterly alone. That is, until an abnormally attractive English teacher enters her life.

Jake has been through Hell and back. After being betrayed by the one woman who had vowed to love and cherish him for the rest of her life, he finds himself alone once again. When the struggles of divorce have finally ended and his ex-wife is merely an unpleasant memory, Jake finds himself accepting a job as a temporary grade twelve English teacher.
