This story is about a girl named Oceen who is the daughter of an 'Enforcer', or a person who makes sure no colors other than black and white enter the City of Ghrim. Even the sky is a dull shade of gray. But 10 years after her mother's execution, Oceen discovers her diaries. Instead of your typical writing, they contained stripes of color and descriptions of what objects usually are that color. Oceen and her friends Flare and Forester go out on a mission to discover why the Government hides the world of color from them; but who knows? Maybe it's just a myth after all...

Somehow he manages to get out of the village to attend far away schools in the city where his life completely changes as he utilizes his newfound freedom. This is followed by several tribulations, conquering each of them, drowning in some and even attempting suicide. In college he's inscripted into the special branch where he becomes a cold killer who cleans the government mess. His story is that of denial, struggle with identity, lack of personal freedom and misery. It radiates several lessons and reveals how a person can be totally different from what others know about him.
