They sit together, huddled in the back of the classroom, whispering. Ms. Ped doesn't notice. Or maybe she does notice, but doesn't care. Pete couldn't care less.
Mikey whispers about bass guitars and coffee and lame parties he's been to. As September moves along, he tells Pete about his older brother and the music he plays and his weird-ass dreams.

But, as she starts to feel better and decides to go back to school, the bullying she received when she first got to school progresses, making everything ten times harder again. She's called names, horrible, horrible names - and all because she lost her virginity to the principal's son. She soon feels like she's nothing, like she's not meant to be here. But, she hides behind a happy face every day, which makes Joe and Andy unaware to everything going on. Libbie tries to kill herself by overdosing, which, much to Joe and Andy's happiness, fails.
