Laurel has lived her whole life as peasant, but when she's offered an opportunity to leave, she doesn't know what to think. She has to leave everything she's known behind to go on a quest for a dragon egg with a stuck-up, nameless stranger. She's forced to go anyway with this stranger, whom the other questers dubbed Clopas, who thinks her name is Azalea.

At first, it doesn't seem too bad, but then people start dying and the trek up and down mountains, through forests, across raging rivers, and all matters of terrain seems endless. To make matters worse, another group is after the egg to destroy it, henceforth killing the species. And when Laurel finds out the reason Clopas wants the egg, she knows she has to keep it hidden from him, too. On a road with death, treachery, and mystical monsters, Laurel must find a way to accomplish the quest without anyone knowing, and can't die along the way.

CALLIE has no family left. So she's been spending her time in the woods, picking at questionable berries and developing a dark worldview. She has a dream of vengance, to kill the man who murdered her mother. And when a seemingly random trip to the circus brings her together with some strange people, Callie finds out that her dream could become reality, and she just might tip the scales of doom and salvation in the process... ALEX is a pessimist. With good reason. His whole life has consisted of grief, pain and hardship, including occasional glimmers of happiness. But when happiness comes, it quickly fades, leaving an empty void in its place. Alex knows this, and he won't be fooled into thinking otherwise. Or will he? LUNA needs a better job. Being a trapeze artist may hide her from the government, but it's not so fun when the manager is a raving lunatic and there's likely to be a crazed pervert in the crowd. So when the big top gets demolished- literally- Luna sees it as a ticket to freedom (contracts are generally void once a business has been destroyed). What she doesn't see are the doors to her past creaking open, and their contents coming to haunt her. ZACH is normal...ish. As normal as a Gifted kid can be. His brand of normalcy includes a kickass grandma, childhood trauma and your everyday run of the mill dragon, but hey, he's not as insane as the others. Really, Zach is thirsting for adventure. Something that doesn't involve babysitting siblings or feuding with his parents. He should've been careful what he wished for.

Eragon was once an orphan who lived on a farm, didn't know who his father was, and had never stepped foot outside of Palancar Valley. But when a blue stone appeared before him in the Spine, hatching a baby dragon, everything changed. Now, he is known as Eragon Shadeslayer, son of Brom and one of the last remaining Riders. He and his dragon, Saphira Bjartskular, have journeyed across the Empire: facing countless foes, winning many battles, and beating impossible odds. They know they are the ONLY ones who can free Alagaësia from the tyrannical King Galbatorix's rule - or are they? When a mysterious girl named Niaomi arrives at the Varden, she brings with her new hope, but also new dangers. For though she and her allies have great powers, Galbatorix will stop at nothing to capture them. And when the third dragon egg hatches, will the newcomers' history hold the key to freedom for the enslaved "Shur'tugalar"? In the first volume of an epic tale, the Riders will be forced to confront spies, thwart assassination attempts, and uncover their pasts. But even though the Varden's skill grows, the coming battle will require all of their strength. For the black king still possesses an unmatched power that even the gods would be hard-pressed to defeat. *see A/N for the full book's trailer* [COMPLETED: readable though in editing] - Chapter Status: last edited 12/3/15 • Edited: #1-#7 • In Progress: - • Unedited: #8-#10 "Destiny (Volume II: Indlvarn)" has been posted and is currently in progress. ~~~~~ Posted: Aug. 12, 2012 ~ All characters, settings, and events referenced from the Inheritance Cycle in "Destiny" and all other related works are owned by Christopher Paolini.
