[Book 1 of the ARC10 Trilogy] **Winner of the 2017 Watty Storysmith award** The President created an underground safe-haven for the survivors of the alien invasion. He built it to save them all from total annihilation. He protects them, feeds them, keeps them under his ever-watchful gaze so they can live. All he asks is that they obey. Captain Janika Lorn doesn't want to obey. Not if it means spreading her legs and contributing to the President's precious eugenics program. As a perfect candidate for the Human Hope Project, she is obligated by law to make more citizens for the dying society. But all she wants is her freedom to fight the Invaders and protect the people who already exist. If the mandated program wasn't bad enough, the worst part is trying to fulfill it with Captain Dean Freyer, her scientifically matched partner and best friend of sixteen years. Just as Captain Lorn is about to succumb to her fate, another opportunity arises. A mysterious commanding officer asks her to lead a human refugee ship--to save humanity by evacuating the destroyed Earth and shuttling the remaining population to a new habitable exoplanet 400 light years away. The mission is perilous. Especially because now, standing between her and her freedom is the hostile alien hosts of her ship, the ARC10, a sister returned from the dead, an array of impossibly confusing alien tech, a rekindled heat between her and Dean, and a sexy militia chief she can't seem to keep her hands off of. ARC10 is a romance-heavy sci-fi with the speculative horror of Atwood's The Handmaid's Tale and the military action of Battle: Los Angeles. Cover art by @FayLane Copyright © 2016 by LL Montez

It's been five years since the plague struck. Leah knows there are other survivors, but she's avoiding them. She is doing just fine on her own. Surviving after everyone she knew died has made her physically strong and honed her intelligence, but she is emotionally devastated. There is nothing to fear if you don't make yourself emotionally vulnerable. James has spent the last five years helping to build up a colony of survivors. He believes in the small town they have populated and its mission to save humanity from extinction. He and his small team of men find scattered people and bring them in. Over the last two centuries, women have fought for and won more and more rights, gaining equality with men. Society, law, and technology bolsters and enforces these rights, but now they are gone. Women's equality with men is over. There are just too few of them. They aren't lesser but greater, more important, more valuable than men. Men are expendable. Men can stay outside alone if they like, but all women must be brought inside the safety of the Colony and properly taken care of. James has been searching the area Leah lives in. Her time of solitude is up. Leah sparks something in James he's never felt before. He's not letting this one get away, certainly not twice. The aliens came here for one thing, and one thing only.... Females. ( This story is only available through inkitt or galatea!!!) (some read events may apply) (check update chapter for more details!) Humans believed they were the only intelligent life to exist... that it was impossible for another species to evolve in a way where they could prevail in something as great as space travel. humans believed they were supposed to be the most technologically advanced species and the alpha predators... They were wrong. The Xandisians evolved in ways humans never could have imagined, they are natural-born killers with phenomenal strength and agility. Their kind never went through the same devolution as humans, they never lost their natural instincts to hunt, kill, or breed. With their limitless potential and monstrous strength, they faced few threats and could survive almost any threat that befall their species, almost. After an incurable sickness washes over the planet of xanadis, the majority of the female, young and elderly, and vulnerable population is all but wiped out, leaving a small portion of the male population to face the threat of extinction. With no choice but to look to the stars for a means to save their kind from complete annihilation, the xandisians set out to find a race compatible with their own. after many years and countless failed expeditions, they finally find a species that matches their base DNA on a planet called Earth. The only issue now is how humans will react. "You have completely and utterly bewitched me, Lucia. Every time I look at you, I feel practically hypnotized." ☆✰⭐︎ Lucia Winters was raised in a pure-blood family with a storied history, expectations weigh heavily on her. Her father couldn't say no when she was invited to Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry as a fifth year. She was deeply nervous about stepping into Hogwarts, not that she would ever admit it out loud. Lucia didn't grow up dreaming of the Great Hall, or getting sorted in front of hundreds of staring eyes. But with carefully composed nervousness there was excitement, she was burning with it. Lucia doesn't know yet what is to come, the power she can yield from her fingertips, a person who could guide her magic, or possibly use it. Sebastian Sallow was in his fifth year of Hogwarts. It started with exhaustion. The kind that settles into your bones - the kind that no amount of sleep or sugar quills can fix. Sebastian hid it with his grin, the sarcasm, the easy confidence. But by now, it was habit, not joy. Anne hadn't improved. Solomon barely spoke to him. So he did what he always did, he hid the bleeding parts. But underneath all of it was a hum, a low, constant desperation. He started digging into older magic, darker spells, things the books said he shouldn't touch. He touched them anyway. Sebastian was not going to sit back and watch his sister wither when he knew there were answers? No. There had to be answers, something, or someone, will show him. ☆✰⭐︎ A collision of two desperate souls, one already falling, the other just stepping into the dark. He needs her - not just because of her magic. She needs him - not just because he sees her clearly. Two people keeping secrets, both too clever for their own good, both drawn to eachother like gravity. Somewhere in their desperation, ambition, and obsession with saving Anne, it started to look like more than a friendship.
