Khamaria discovers that everything she has ever known is a lie, including her life. She is a Madusian. However, during her journey she is kidnapped and she is altered for life although she is not aware.

A law is passed in the land that women of a certain age must be married to nobles by the order of the King. Her rebelliousness leads her to disguise as a boy for she wants to run away from marriage and join the army.

I don't know how to explain it but it felt as though my brain was tearing in two, like my head was cracking open. When the pain stopped, I found myself surrounded by wolves, the shifted pups.
