In a world full of man made destruction, an apocalypse strikes, plunging Earth into total chaos. Laurie has lost both her parents and is struggling to keep her and her little sister alive. When shes out on her daily scavenger hunt for food, she sees Quinn, a boy of her own age, injured and hungry. She doesn't like him at all - she doesn't need another mouth to feed - but her little sister begs her, cries, even, so that she has to let Quinn stay with them. Laurie is sure she will always hate Quinn - but when a problem occurs and he steps in to help, she finds herself in an odd position. Is there place for love in this wreckage of a planet? Will anything ever be the same again?
