What happened before Thomas entered the Maze? What was life like, when you've tried to get out for three years, but still have not? When you didn't have hope?
This is what Newt experiences as soon as the box open and he enters this new world through the box. But Newt isn't the best at making good choices for himself and others, and when all the struggles he faces in the Glade, in the Maze, with the Gladers, come together, he has to make one difficult choice:
Is it better to stay in the Maze until they get out? Or is the real exit dying while trying?
(just know that before Newt realizes his name several chapters in, he's referred to as "him" from his own perspective)

Also, sorry if a few things don't add up to the original series that James Dashner wrote. Not all facts may be correct.

They know someone had to have put them there for a reason. In fact, all she knows is that she is the only girl in the Glade, as they called it, trapped behind huge walls where they are infested with slimy Grievers. While Rosalee has to learn to adapt to her new home, she gets to know a certain British second-in-command named Newt. Soon after, she begins to fall for him. But when things begin to go awry in the Glade, can Rosalee confess her feelings to Newt before it's too late? Disclaimer: I do not own The Maze Runner or its characters. They belong to James Dashner. My heart was racing, I was covered in sweat and shaking as I felt my memories slip away. I was huddled in the corner of what seemed like a box. Although it felt like I'd been in there for hours it couldn't of been more then 30 minutes. Suddenly the box came to a quick stop and the doors were pulled open.
