Solemn Hour

With humans resigning their position at the top of the food chain, they are relegated to a complacent, cattle-like existence, where they are forced to donate blood every six months and abide by the rules of an elusive royal family. Social classes are divided into Settlement Regions, and food has become incredibly scarce. Prime, human males and females are encouraged to enlist in the Battalion, a supreme fighting force of combined human and vampire power, bent on destroying Rogues: a berserk form of vampire that derives remarkable power from feeding directly from frightful humans.
After a close encounter with a Rogue terrorist group, Stella Washington--the daughter of the Battalion's Chief of Command--and her younger brother are sent to live with the royal family as per her father's request. There she will assume the position of a soldier-in-training, honing her skills under the bombastic Prince Cain and the enigmatic Prince Lucian.
