[Work In Progress]
Throughout the universe, there tells the story of the Phoenix.
A true being of legend, the tale warped and twisted over the centuries and the civilizations. To some, it is a bedtime story to reassure children that they are safe, while for others it is a chilling tale told in the dark when things go bump in the night. Some say that it would bring down your world, a relentless force that could not be stopped. But one thing is known for sure:
Wherever she is seen, the Doctor is never far behind.
When the Doctor left Donna to live a normal life, he swore to never have another companion, for fear of another heartbreak. It was better that way. He wandered the stars, lending his hand when the situation called for it, but never lingering long enough to risk an emotional attachment.
That is, until Alex. When he first meets her, she's a clever, quick-witted teen with the stars in her eyes, bursting at the seams with life and everything he didn't know he needed in his life. When disaster strikes, leaving her out of place in the universe, he welcomes her into the TARDIS with little more than a second thought.
Their perfect chemistry gives both the Doctor and Alex a friendship that completes them, and over the next three years, they delve deeper into the mystery of the Phoenix, finding Alex intertwined in its legacy at every turn. But the prophecy didn't lie, and the Master's plans leaves the Doctor a dead man walking, but the presence of a friend makes his regeneration a little less painful.
Only, with a new body comes a new mindset, and the Doctor realizes that he wants to bring their friendship to the next level. She impacts every part of his life; even his new regeneration was inspired by her. However, above domestic relationships, an even bigger threat sets over the horizon.
Because the Pandorica will open, and the flame will turn to ash.
