The Ranch at Lake Aurelia

Sixteen year old Anna Winchester moves from the big city of Baltimore, Maryland to a smaller town in Hot Springs, North Carolina, when her mother gets remarried. When they move to her stepfather's horse ranch, which sits on beautiful Lake Aurelia, Anna is thrown into a world of mucking out stalls, cleaning out the barn, and just learning how to take care of horses. While on a walk through the meadow, she encounters a beautiful chestnut brown mare taking a drink from the lake. She brings it back to the barn and her stepfather agrees to house it. Once the horse gets out onto the racetrack, everyone on the ranch is astonished that this horse could run so fast. Assuming she's a thoroughbred, Anna learns to take care of the horse and eventually wants to race competitively. She trains to become a jockey to race competitively in the Arlington Million in Illinois.

Shane Collins' father just passed away, making him and his sister Christine two of the richest people in the area. Leaving his junior year of college early wasn't the best idea, but he had to take a leave of absence to help save the farm. Christine was trying to get the family business back on track, trying to keep their investors coming back, along with being thrown into ownership of their land. Then he meets charming, beautiful Anna, and he falls in love and wants her to succeed as a jockey. He also has been harboring over a secret himself. He and Anna do share a connection.
