Lola Marie Keefer lost her brother and parents in a fatal car accident only feet from her home. The yearly family camping trip that she'd chose to skip this year took the lives of the only family she had and trusted.

The pain takes her beyond herself, and suicide attempts stir about.

Eventually she lands herself in an institution. Even more alone there than she was when she was free. Surrounded by crazies and strangers, she visits the counselor's office.

He's a counselor in training, wanting to take Lola on as his first project. But not only does Lola come with work for him, but she comes with a roller coaster of feelings that throw the two into a whirlwind disaster of pain, longing, and love.
