When Rosie, an ordinary schoolgirl, is left in the care of her distant relatives she finds that her house is gradually changing around her she wonders what is happening. Soon she and her brother find themselves transported into a strange kingdom  where a great contest is taking place of which they and their house are caught in the middle of.
