The Last Ride Home tells us of a story of a girl named Margo. Margo is disabled-- she has no legs. Although she doesn't have the ability to walk, she absolutely loves going outdoors. She depends on her brother to ride a tandem bike with her, just to go get some fresh air. What she didn't know was that her brother was developing some kind of illness which wouldn't just prevent him to ride a bike but also to live a life.

Life is unfair. Margo knows that all too well. Since her life changed forever four years ago when her father died, Margo has had to deal with things she shouldn't have to like her twin brother Mason's multiple mental breakdowns, the effects of breaking up with a boyfriend who was initially the boy next door and a best friend, and going through the dreaded teenage years without a dad. But her mother's remarriage digs up all of these issues again and makes everyone involved deal with them, not just Margo. With a week to go until the wedding, Margo arrives home to find things are fairly normal, well as normal as they'll ever be. But after an eye opening conversation with Mason, he flees to the one place he knows she won't be able to get to him: their father's beach house fourteen hours away. Enlisting her ex Max, Margo and Max have to take an emotionally perilous journey to bring Mason home. And along the way they'll have to face emotions that have gone untouched for almost a year.
