Cars left abandoned or crashed, belongings dropped. But the further we entered streets with smaller and more confined houses, the increasingly morbid our surroundings became. Bodies decorated with crimson stains lay in any given direction, some even children. Store windows smashed, alarms ringing, odd noises from unknown sources. Smoke rose from locations of previously landed bombs or buildings alit, some even cars. It was as if we had been through World War III.
