Young 18 year old Catherine Rian Douglas is absolutely dreading her Summer. Cat's dad died in a car accident including a drunk driver in January, causing Cat to become totally mute. She lost all contact with her friends, and even the world. She felt like the world was against her, so she kept quiet. Just when she thought her life was nothing anymore, her mom decided to send Cat to a camp in Georgia. This camp had girls and boys her age. Cat's mom thought this was a good opportunity to make some friends and to have fun. Cat hated the idea, but it was too late to quit. When Cat arrives at the camp, she discovers Brooke and Jack. Brooke and Jack understood Cat, and they soon became friends. At the camp, Cat learns important lessons in life, and learns that she can't just shut the world out.
