Ember Lee isn't your typical teenager. Sure, she attends high school, she has homework, and absolutely despises it just like the rest of us. However, Ember has a deep, dark secret she's hiding from the world. Only her aunt/legal guardian know this secret, and she promised never to tell another living soul.

All of this changes when a young man named Matthew Evans shows up at her school. Matthew decides to make it his duty to try and understand Ember's motives. Yet Ember, as stubborn as she is, plays him and makes it a challenge for him to figure her out.
