Elizabeth Grayson is walking home after school with her best friend, Austin, when they get caught in the middle of blizzard that seemed to hit with no warning. A few years later she wakes up in a strange place, unable to remember who she is and discovers that terrible things have been happening while she was "asleep." Her entire home city is in ruins, and strangers, that don't even appear to be completely human, are calling all the shots. She realizes that she needs to get out of this place and find out what's going on and how or if she can fix everything back to normal. Along the way she meets a group of people that agree to help her out and they all begin a terrifying and ultimately dangerous trip to try and save the place they're supposed to be able to call home. However, things get more complicated when one of those people ends up being Elizabeth's first true love, and the one person that may not survive the journey.
