Two years after the events of Shadow of the Bat, Batman is faced with more problems than a trained vigilante can handle. His partner in crime-fighting, Jason Todd aka Robin, has been murdered at the hands of The Joker. Meanwhile back in Gotham, a Question Mark Killer is maiming police officers and leaving clues for Nightwing. A secret organization is talked about on the streets, killing people and running Gotham. When Joker's influenced madness ensues onto Gotham and the shortage of neceessary supplies diminishes, it is up to Batman and the boy wonder, Robin to end Joker's reign of terror and protect the city at all costs. As the insanity decreases, a threat emerges from the romantic relationship between Joker and his gal that spews up returning tension into Gotham. With the stakes much higher than ever before, Batman must now test his wits, vulnerability, and awakened emotions to a bitter degree as the Clown Prince of Crime and the hormonal Jester toy with his intellectual mind. Returning key characters include Alfred Pennyworth, Dick Grayson, Vicki Vale, Commissioner James Gordon, and Selina Kyle.
