"You know what Dylan?! I'm done with.. with what ever this!" I scream as I wave my hand in the air. "Don't bother calling just forget my number. forget this EVER happened!" I yell as I get in my car and slam the door and start to drive off tears falling from my face. "wait please..." I here him yell as I drive, his voice becomes more faint the farther away I get. I don't bother to look behind me as my vision goes blurry as the seconds tick on. The last thing I remember is reaching for my phone. I open my phone and read the message from Dylan. -please I'm sorry it wasn't my fault!- As I attempt to text back I feel the impact of my car hitting the tree as my eyes go black I whisper "I'm sorry... " were my last words. at that moment I accepted my fait. ,this was the end.

I didn't realize at first that those were going to be his last words... I never stopped to think that I wouldn't get another chance to call his name and have him throw his arms around me. I would never be able to tell him how much I loved him or how important he was to me, ever again. I couldn't even comprehend the thought of losing him. It's been seven years since that day and they haven't seen each other since. Carla became a school counsellor in the hopes of giving support to young children who are struggling with life but she never really lets herself fall back into her past. Evan became a paramedic so that he could save lives and save people from having to hear how their loved ones died moments before they arrived at the scene. He never lets himself truly remember that day or the paramedics who delivered the news to him while Carla stood by the wreck, tears falling from her eyes and his cell phone clutched in her hand. |------------------------------------------------------| | Short Story | Teen Fiction | No one ever truly wants to say goodbye to the ones they love because that will mean admitting that they are going- leaving us.
