Dan has a strict "don't trust, don't commit, don't get hurt" policy. He never knew his parents and has never been in one of his many foster homes long enough for it to feel like home. On the outside, Phil is the opposite of Dan. Phil's loving family and friends have been by his side his entire life, and never once has he been truly hurt by someone. He lives his life blindly trusting what he's told and not worrying, but inside he feels just as lonely and scared as Dan does.
