Approaching her twenty-second birthday, Genevieve's life had been going pretty terribly, lately; dealing with her first broken heart when her boyfriend of three years unceremoniously dumped her, doing the best she can through University, and even her dreams seem to be working against her when she falls back into her old habit of running away from the real world through sleep.
Just as she is about to accept that the doldrums will not change, her aunt Andrea comes sweeping in, intent on making her birthday some kind of event.
When she is gifted an old mirror by Andrea, who says that it is a very, very old family heirloom tied to the story her grandmother used to tell her as a child, everything in her life is soon turned upside down, until reality as she knows it is no longer so.
