The clueless girl

This story is about a little 8 year old jewish girl named Maya. She got bullied a lot at school because of her skin colour but no one knew that she was actually suffering from blood cancer. Everything starts on September 1st 1939. During the night, she woke up to a bell. Clueless about this, she didn't realize it was the bell that rings every time there's a bomb near. Since she was too young to know about all these weapon, she always thought of something silly instead until she got shot. Then she realized what was actually going on. Obviously if she was shot in her house it means someone was in it with a gun! Is it a German police officer that came to get to kill them? Why is her dad acting suspicious?
