Santa Barbara, salty air, golden sun, murder, what more could you ask for? The perfect place for a fresh start, at least if you're a former FBI profiler. For Adeline Buckley, it couldn't be more perfect. After an explosive exit from her team at the BAU, the SBPD welcomed her with open arms. The recommendation from one of their Lead detectives, Juliet O'Hara didn't hurt either. It's not every day a former FBI behavioralist joins the force, so who better than to pair her with? The town Psychic detective Shawn Spencer. Addy soon bites off more than she bargains for with her new partner when she's forced to ask her old team for help. Surely pretending to date your partner couldn't go wrong? Especially when you're both in love with the same person. Profilers make the best liars, but secrets have a way of coming out eventually. Serial killers and love stories always seem to end in blood for the BAU's two youngest members, and even in Santa Barbara they can't seem to avoid it. "I vote whoever finds the clue first gets to have it." Shawn finally answered my question in a whisper as our lips played a game of chicken with each other. "Seems fair, I can teach you how to build a profile." I whispered back as my lips brushed against his. "I'll teach you how to read a room."
