in Quantico, Virginia, the Behavioral Analysis Unit (BAU) is a subsection of the FBI. Called in by local police departments to assist in solving crimes of a serial and/or extremely violent nature. this group of special "profiles" are more than a team they are a family. when agent Hotchner, starts a protection program, to protect a recent victim of a infamous serial killer. Phoebe Marie Milano, is or was an ordinary Girl, until a psychotic murder targets her because she looks like his mother. before she is killed the team rescues her. So the BAU excepted the fact they have to protect her.

Dr Spencer Reid on the other hand is very flustered at the fact she has to stay at his apartment. but then he starts to have a connection with her but the question is does she have feelings for him too? and will he be able to set aside his feelings for her so he can protect her?
