It all started out for Derek Hale when he was at the age of seven, entering his second grade class for the first time. To say he was excited was an understatement. He was straight up pumped. The cheerful boy was always in the mood for an adventure, spreading his warm attitude and positive outlook with everyone he met. Even then he was the popular kid - and he was only in the second grade. Then there was the young Elizabeth Ingle. Elizabeth - more commonly referred to as Effy - also at the age of seven, dreaded the thought of leaving for school. Especially the first day, when her fun summer vacation ended and she would have to fall back into the routine of getting up early and facing the world when all she wanted to do was sleep. And she let everyone know she was in a bad mood when she had one. And, truthfully, that was every day. Both entering Mrs. Jones' class, both with totally different attitudes and personalities. They were as different as night and day. Happy versus angry. Positive versus negative. Popular versus... not. So naturally, when Mrs. Jones decided they should sit next to each other, the two didn't even get two words in before they concluded that they hated each other and always would hate each other, as long as they both should live. But then again, opposites attract, right? cover by @voidmxklson !!
