In Saskatchewan, about 40 minutes south of the city of Regina, is an area called the Dirt Hills. They mark the edge of an ancient glacier and rise several hundred feet above the prairie. When I was at the University of Regina we would drive out there and hike to the top of the hills. It was a landscape of gently rolling grass covered mounds with the prairie spread out around us and the infinite blue sky above.
