When most people are born into the world, they are embraced by their mother’s arms as she speaks sweet nothings to the precious life she had just brought into the world. I had none of that. I was embraced by my mother’s arms as she ran away from the hospital to the typical, busy London Street. I was left. Abandoned. Left alone on a doorstep of a stranger, having to face the cold and bitter night alone not even a day old.
