Almira Monroe Stanson, a young girl continuously hospitalized for chemo. She was a bright girl, intelligent, and witty, yet depressed and full of hate. She didn't want friends, or any family to help her. She just wants to not exist so when she dies she won't hurt anyone. Under that cold facade, lies a sweet girl who just wants everyone to be happy. Clarence Daniel Carter who was diagnosed with anemia at age seven. He didn't see it as a burden, but as a new experience for him to live through it. Well, as much as he could. His parents never had much money, but just enough to pay rent for a small house and food which was enough to them. The Carter family had a serious connection, making Almira envious of Clarence. Almira was stuck with Clarence in her patient room and over time she found herself growing more fond of Clarence, and growing more sick. However, the Stanson family could afford this, considering the fact her mother is a lawyer and her dad is the main doctor in this hospital. The Stanson family founded it generations upon generations ago, Almira was supposed to be the next doctor but she can't even save herself, how is she expected to save others' lives?

It was a bright, summer day. Mr. and Mrs. Evans were both in the hospital, ready to give birth. But they were really scared. It's their first child so Mrs. Evans was really afraid of how it might go. "It's okay, honey. It'll be okay." Mr. Evans tried to reassure his wife, stroking her head soothingly. "But what if the baby comes upside down? What if there's something wrong with her? What if it hurts?" She asked questions so quickly that Mr. Evans doesn't even have time to answer any of them. "The baby will be fine. Don't worry. It won't hurt as well. It'll be over before you even know it." But no matter what he said, she was shaking with fear and panic. The doctor came towards them. "Do we have a name for her?" She asks as they wait for a contraction. Mr. Evans looked between the doctor and his wife before answering, "Actually, we haven't-" "Hope" Mrs. Evans looked up at him, smiling.
