Valentina and her brother, Sal, escape from the evil School with help from the famous heroine Maximum Ride and the Flock and try to live normal lives despite a slight deformity, they have wings! They try their best but Erasers are soon on their tail and they seek protection by joining the Flock. But the School has a new secret weapon, one of their own kind, and he's the craftiest experiment that they've created so far. His intentions seem to just please the School but he seems to have a darker plan in mind for Valentina.

But as she was leading the Erasers away, they caught up to her and she was badly wounded. Two brothers out to find some animals stumbled upon an injured teenager and took her back to their turtle ship so she could get medical attention.
