My entry ==> Notch and Steve are playable characters and when they are online they're fine, but do you really expect them to be mentally stable? They may be characters and skins, but they exist inside minecraft too, and you do not want to meet the real them.
Herobrine doesn't really have a name. In fact, it would be Steve. Notch had rigged it on purpose so the game would glitch. Herobrine was that glitch. He is a failed Steve. He killed them all, but doesn't remember.
