Answering the Call

This is a series of AU vignettes in which each member of the Fellowship hears the call of the Ring -- and answers it. My take on the big What-If. Varying degrees of angst, drama, action, and perhaps a little more angst. This series won First Place in the MEFA Awards quite a few years ago now.
This idea brewed in my brain for a long time before I finally got it out of my head and onto 'paper.' It would never have happened without my beta reader, Thundera Tiger, and I can't thank her enough. Without her guidance and encouragement, this story would never have seen the light of day, nor would I have considered posting any of my writing.
There will be one vignette for each Fellowship character, following the prologue. I hope you enjoy!

"One does not simply walk into Mordor. Its black gates are guarded by more than just Orcs. There is evil there that does not sleep and the Great Eye is ever watchful. It is a barren wasteland, riddled with fire and ash and dust..." Boromir addresses the council in a quiet voice "The very air you breathe is a poisonous fume. Not with ten thousand men could you do this. It is folly." He ended in a state like manor As I sighed shaking my head at what he said "Have you heard nothing Lord Elrond has said ? The ring must be destroyed" Legolas said "It is true you cannot just walk into the gates of Mordor but you should not be so naive as to think you alone could destroy the ring" I said as Gimli looked towards me "And I suppose you think you're the one to do it ?" Gimli said cockily "And if we fail,what then ? What happens when Sauron takes back what is his ?" Boromir questioned looking towards Gimli as he leaps to his feet "I will be dead before I see the Ring in the hands of an Elf!" Gimli says looking towards me spitefully. "How dare you speak to me in such a manor dwarf!" I said rage in my voice as the council erupted into a storm of arguments. "Never trust an Elf!" Gimli said towards me as I reach for my arrow but a hand grabs my wrist and I feel warm breath on my ear "I wouldn't" Legolas' voice says against my skin as I look at him our faces inches apart. "Fine" I say through gritted teeth as Legolas lets go of my hand softly and stands by my side.Complete
The Odyssey of the daughter of the forest
In the dark forest of Mirkwood, shadows are growing, again and again. The leaves are becoming black, as the roots, and as the trees. Birds are not singing anymore. Flowers have disappeared. Even the sun has trouble to light the ground of the forest, once so alive and full of colours. A young elf with red hair is fighting every day for her people, who is retreating before its enemy, who is sending his troups from his black tower, in the south of Middle Earth. Orcs are coming, more and more numerous on their lands. The company of Thorin Oakenshield from the Blue Mountains will not succes to put an end to this invasion. Their fight will just postpone the deadline, by sacrifying many lives, and destroying many others. And by seperating for a while the path of two lovers, who are destined to meet again. Sixty years later, the elf joins the fellowship to save Middle Earth, once and for all, from the threat that are gliding above its people, for a long time. Forgotten Queen
She had lived a long life. Most of it was spent running from herself and her past, but the past has a strange way of catching up to us. And now, three thousand years after the war was over, the shadow caught up with the world. It began when the lost Ring was once more found. It was time for the free world to make a decision. Word reached her from Imladris calling her back. Against her better judgment she went. Due to the wish of her old friend, she attended the council where the future was to be decided. After years of solitude Lia joined the so called Fellowship of the Ring on their long and dangerous journey to Mount Doom. She was a fine warrior and yet even she was not imune to darkness. When the dark of her past catched up to her, Lia had to make sure her demons would not stand in the way of protecting the Middle Earth. Even at the cost of her life, of her heart. Even if it cost her everything, she would do what she judges to be right in order to save Arda. Nothing would stand in her way of protecting all those she loved. LOTR - Female Reader x Faramir Fanfiction
You're a Ranger of Ithilien and Faramir's Girlfriend. You were dating before he became a captain, and since, publicly, he don't treat you any different from anybody else, so it's cool. Anyway, you are sent with Boromir to be part of the Fellowship of the Ring. I got this idea after seeing the Expanded edition, (I had only seen the Theatrical, so it explained sooo much.) and then seeing the lack of Faramir fanfiction.
