This is about a boy named Jamie Stevens who has always enjoyed solitude and doing things on his own.  He became mute at the age of 8 because of some horrible thing that happened to him.  His friends all abandoned him after that besides one, Justin Jensen.  Jamie lives with his father Scott who likes to drink and work usually,  and isn't always happy to see his son.
