"An imaginary but real friend. An honest liar. Social media is your oxygen… that's what created you. So don't leave it." Avery Jarette doesn't know how twisted her life will become once she presses the "submit" button. At first, Avery had a controlled other identity. Then somehow Gwendoyln Delaney is created. Avery plays it off simple at first, then soon Gwendoyln becomes a necessity in Avery and her friend's lives. Then later Avery realizes just who Gwendoyln is. Everything Avery wanted was Gwendoyln. Her greed had created perfection with a dark twist. The only problem is… Avery can't seem to let go of her new obsession.

Avery was a teenager. Not your typical 18-year-old girl. The complete opposite. She was not born the way a normal kid would be born. She was lied to all her life about who she was. She tried everything to beg her mom to let her discover what she truly was. This prompted her to escape her protected world and discover the Midnighters. People she could rely on. A boy called Josh challenges her to prove to herself that she really is a Midnighter. Upon the fight that they had, Avery discovered that her mother was a Midnighter and that she was part of a family that was one of the most important ones in Midnighter history. Through all this, she remained calm going in steps that will lead her to the truth.
