Ryder was popular, beautiful, and now, a rock God—and I hate him. Kensi Kiles tried for years to forget the boy who broke her heart in high school. By day, he was her bully. By night? He was the friend she made beautiful music with...Until it happened. The day he broke her heart. Suddenly everything Kensi held dear to her only brought her pain—including music. Now, five years later—courtesy of her cousin—she was front row to one of his sold out shows, and what she hears might shatter her heart all over again. ***** Ryder has everything he's ever wanted—except her. The one that got away. Being the lead singer and guitarist for the internationally known rock band— Distant Shadows— has it perks. More money than he could count, thousands of fans screaming his name, and women from all over the world warming his bed. Between the booze, sex, and rock n roll, it was easy to forget the girl in high school he left behind. Then he sees her at one of his shows, and everything changed. Including her. But the truth is, he never forgot her. He's been waiting for her, and now that she's finally in his grasp...he's not letting her go again.

Meet Violet Summers. She's the sarcastic girl who doesn't really ever get noticed by anyone. She blends into any crowd because of how "normal" she is. And she loves it. She wouldn't be able to stand the attention of everyone around her. That's why she won't tell Ryan Bloore, her crush for three years, that she practically worships the ground he walks on. Ryan is the captain of the basketball team at their school, so guys see him like he's a god and girls act like he walks on water. If they were to date, all eyes would be on her- she would be under everyone's scrutiny. So she's kept her feelings a secret, and she's done her best to suppress her emotions these past years, but she's realized that she's been so caught up in making people not notice her that she didn't realize how lonely she would be when no one was watching. Now meet Ryder Knight. School bad boy. Quarterback captain and heartthrob. The kind that wears a leather jacket and has tattoos all over his arms. The one who shows up to school riding a motorcycle. Just your average run of the mill "if you get involved with this guy, you will meet some serious trouble" kind of male. Well, too bad for Violet, she's stuck with him now. After all of the years of pushing away her feelings for Ryan because of her fear of being seen, she is now all anyone can look at- because of Ryder. Because of him, she can feel their stares, and she hates him for it. The longer they spend time together, the more Ryder starts to realize he actually enjoys being around her-despite her snarky comments about how much she despises him. And if Violet is being completely honest with herself, she's also starting to realize she might not actually hate the fact that people are noticing her now, but hate the way Ryder makes her feel.
