Romance
"What is it that genuinely gives you happiness in this world Lott?" Caleb asks seriously, taking hold of Lottie's hand, squeezing it encouragingly. She swallows the lump that seemed to be permanently lodged in her throat, taking a deep breath before replying with, "Y-you...you Caleb Jared Everhart are the only thing in the whole universe that brings me joy-" "...Lott, I-" He shakes his head, closing his eyes as if trying to block out the words that just spilled from Lottie's quivering mouth. A small tear drops quickly from her eye. Trickling down Lottie's cheek, falling onto her lap, she sniffles trying to saviour the small amount of dignity that she still had left within her. "You are the light at the of the tunnel for me Caleb...a-and for that I'm eternally grateful..." Lot smiles sadly, kissing his cheek softly, enjoying the tingling feeling that spread across her lips; shrugging off the sinking feeling in her tightening chest. •••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••• Caleb Everhart is what some would call an extrovert. Lottie Andrews is what some would call an introvert. Caleb Everhart wants to find true love. And so does Lottie. They just both didn't expect to find it outside a crummy, old lecture theatre at 9:34 in the morning. Caleb and Lottie are what everyone calls Soulmates. Caleb is sweet, innocent and quirky. Lottie is vulnerable, a passionate writer and her true self...but only when her boyfriend's not around. While trying to deal with his fast growing feelings, Caleb is determined to help Lottie get out of her toxic relationship but no matter what he does Lottie blames herself for everything that happens as she's damaged and totally messed up inside. But for some stupid reason Caleb loves her anyway. ••••••••••••••••••••••••••

There's this silence between us that stretches longer than it should, and it wraps around my chest like a weighted blanket. My throat tightens. I stare at him like I'm trying to memorise the face of someone who shouldn't exist. A dream made real. My lips part before I can stop myself. "Were you sent by my dad to take care of me?" The question hangs in the air, trembling like the last leaf in autumn. Aiden's gaze softens. His lips tug into the gentlest smile I've ever seen. It's the kind of smile that could mend broken wings. "No" he whispers. "I volunteered." The words hit harder than I expect. Like a punch wrapped in silk. I gasp, air leaves me in a rush I can't reclaim. But before I can fully process what he's just said, he takes a step closer. His fingers ghost over my cheek, brushing away a tear I didn't realise had fallen. And then-he kisses me painfully slow. His hand cups the back of my neck, anchoring me to a moment I never want to end. And just when I think it's over, he pulls away just enough to look at me. His thumb traces the damp trail of tears down my cheek. He doesn't say anything. He just leans in again, and kisses them away. One by one. My tears. My pain. My silence. All kissed away by a boy who didn't come to save me because someone sent him. He came because he chose to.
