For four days the fire burns hot and steady. Tat survives, but she has been transformed. Now she is something else other then human...not that she was ever human.
Since birth, alone and unloved, she must learn to let those she needs in, and outlive the horrors of her childhood.

Caden is the head of the elemental extractors. His job is to find, protect and bring home his people. On a mission to get a boy out of a testing faculty, he is suddenly drawn to a separate room where he sees a girl. She has no aurora, but he recognizes her dormant power.
Heavily drugged for six years, Tat has no idea what has happened to her, nor what she is. Caden thinks he knows, but she is more then he has ever imagined.
