Caroline Van der Wich can't remember when Brett Talbot started at Devenford Prep... He just shows up in her memory. 
    
           After Brett is almost killed at a lacrosse game, Caroline finds herself in a world she only thought existed on TV. Caroline not only struggles with werewolves, Nightmare horses invading her school, Incubbus', and other dangerous super natural creatures, she has to also deal with family problems, cancer, and the most dreaded thing every 15 yr old girl copes with: School Drama. 
    And, then of course, there's Brett. Ever since Caroline witnessed his attack by an assassin at the big lacrosse game , Brett is always somewhere near her. And she just can't get away. 
    However, that soon changes when she starts to embrace Brett for his true self, a werewolf. 
    Caroline, Brett, and the rest of their friends soon find themselves wrapped up in a world that shouldn't exist, and soon they must cope with the biggest threat Devenford Prep has ever faced: The Mare. Creatures of the night that are possessed by demons, and live to haunt humans with their worst fears in the shapes of shadow horses. But when Caroline is bit by her own worst fear at a rave, she soon transforms into something that shouldn't exist in the real world...
    
    With secrets hidden in every corner and danger always looming over Beacon Hills, Caroline doesn't really realize how dangerous the world she has just entered actually is...And she's just at the tip of it.
