I looked down at the cars on the road and the people way down on the sidewalk. They looked like they were having fun.... I mentally slapped myself.

"No," I said aloud. "You like it up here," I told myself, trying to smother the little spark inside of me that I knew wanted to just jump right off the balcony. __________________________________________________________

According to Mother, the only time that I ever left this apartment was when I was born in a hospital a few blocks away. My entire world view is limited to whatever I can see from our 37th story penthouse, which, honestly, isn't much.

Mother thought that she controlled every aspect of my life.

She was wrong.

Five Star Reviews for Atlantis Academy: "Omg this book was amazing I couldn't put it down or stop reading. I carried it with me open on my phone while I did everything just to keep reading. I need more of all of this. Epic story, epic content, epic visuals, just epic. LOVE THIS!" "Once I got into this story, I did not stop reading it. This is a beautiful story about a very awkward girl who is riven with so much pain and angst and yet... this makes her who she is and shapes her into the person she will become. The world she finds herself awakened to is magical and yet filled with the all-too-familiar cliques and tribes of the very human people who inhabit it. One word to describe the story: beautiful!" "The story pulls you headlong to the end and leaves you wanting to shout "No! Not yet!" ...If there were 6 stars, I would have given it that." *** Humanity is one secret society away from extinction. The children of Atlantis use magic to keep us safe. If they make it through the Academy. Hi, I'm Lyric. And I'm kind of a mess. ADHD, that's me. I'm a high school drop-out, late everywhere I go, and one screw-up away from being homeless. I'm a loner, and I like it that way. Who needs friends when you have a Redwood forest nearby? Trees never bully me like the kids did at school. Or get drunk and throw things at my head. After my mom died, I figured life couldn't get much worse. I thought it might even get better. Ha. The universe has a great sense of humor. I should've listened to the rumors about evil spirits. About the angry, ancient magical creatures haunting our small Oregon Coast town. But did I? No. That was my first mistake. And it might be my last. 'Cause now I'm in a battle for my life. A whole new world has opened up... a magical world I don't understand. And the blood in my veins says I belong here. But I have to prove myself to save myself. And when have I ever done that?

"Sweetheart wake up. You're at the hospital." I looked up and saw the same woman hovering over me. "Oh...okay." I opened my eyes fully and noticed that I was already in the hospital bed. Why on earth did she have to wake me? "So why am I here?" I asked confused. "Well," she said pulling a short and skinny woman into the room. "This very sweet lady saw you on the side of the road and called 9-1-1." I looked up at her and she threw me an evil look. In a way, she seemed strongly familiar. I looked away slowly diving my eyes back into the direction of the nurse. "Before we leave you, I just wanted to let you know that my name is Julia. You can call me whatever works best for you. Julia, Nurse, Nurse Julia. Whatever. I'll be right back with your papers." Sixteen-year-old Abigail Moore, also referred to as Ginger by her boyfriend Cameron Wood, has lived a terrible sixteen years. Abigail and her aunt get along very well, and she grows up safe and in no harm. Although her life and goals seem set straight and simple to her, her mother and others are always watching, just waiting in Abigail's shadows for the perfect time to strike, and take their next victim in the creepy and deathly darkness of Brett Creek in Colombia Falls, Maine. ***WINNER of the "BREATHTAKING: A FANTASY AND SCIENCE FICTION NOVEL WRITING COMPETITION!" "You are a secret kept from the world, but not from me." So begins the peculiar message found slipped under a bedroom door on the morning of May first. Theo is the heir to a powerful dictatorship. The number of people allowed to know he exists is few. He has spent his entire life walled up in the Tower, the looming stone monolith from which his father rules over the Land. Merryn is the daughter of political prisoners. She's known who Theo is longer than he would think possible, and she is taking a great risk contacting him via handwritten notes in order to convince him he deserves more than the fate his father has designed for him. She has one month to exchange daily messages with him, to answer his questions and open his eyes to the realities of a world he has never been allowed to see. A revolution is coming to the Land at the end of the month, and if Merryn's notes fail to get their point across, Theo may never live to see the sunrise on June first. A/N: The following letters were originally published each day from May 1st-31st, 2014. As you will see,Theo is allowed to write down a question for Merryn each evening, but you, the reader, won't see these within the body of the story. It may or may not be obvious from Merryn's response what Theo is asking. Part of the fun is guessing what his questions might be, but if you really want to know what they are, a list of those questions is at the end of the story. This story is a re-imagining of Rapunzel. Now, without further ado-I believe a young heir is about to unfold a slip of paper found on the tile floor near his door... Let's see what it says!

Completed ✔ I watch a dazed Katherine. She whispered to herself. "Is this the part where I get kidnapped?" Is that what she thinks I'm here for? I don't want to kidnap her, just take her to dinner. I don't want Katherine thinking this. "Katherine I'm not here to kidnap you." She looks shocked by what I said. Katherine asked in a low voice. "If he's not, then what is he here for?" She's talking out loud to herself he concluded after that. Katherine wasn't paying attention to him. "To ask you out to dinner." Nicholas answers trying to get her attention so she realizes his intentions. "Katherine have dinner with me." "No, I can't" Katherine say after. He saw a look of confusion on her face. I'm being very clear. I don't see what she's confused about. "How do you know my name?" He hears her answering his own question. Why is she asking me this? I'm her best friend, of course I know her name. Nicholas didn't understand the previous question. "Because we've met before." The look that comes over Katherine's face is bewilderment. She doesn't get anything I'm saying. Its almost like I'm talking to a stranger. The thought shook Nicholas to his core because he's telling the truth. Katherine didn't believe him. He knew he's right after what she says next. "We've never met before aside from you stalking me," she tells him. Nicholas felt his entire world shatter around them. Katherine sounds like she doesn't know me. She sounds like someone who never met her bestfriend. She sounds like, a stranger... [1st draft ] Cover made by Chrissy_too_nice22

Why her biological mother had died and what truly happened to her father after she was 'adopted'. And why everybody seems to be searching for her?
